Sur un quadrilatère au front continu, il est ponctué de boutiques sous les arcades le long du boulevard Mohammed V. A l’intérieur, le corps central couvert est surmonté d’une ample rotonde qui abrite les marchands de poissons. La rue intérieure qui le ceinture est bordée de boutiques. Fraîcheur et ventilation sont assurées par des fontaines en zellijs traditionnels et d’étroites ouvertures fermées de moucharabieh de ciment. Huit accès permettent de le traverser en tous sens. L’entrée principale a été soulignée récemment par des encadrements sculptés et des panneaux de zellijs verts et jaunes.
